LO.1

LO.2 Screen shots

For this section I recorded my own sound using a H2 zoom system.

This shows the first sound I placed in, when doing this I cut out sections of the sound for it to fit the actions of the video.

For this one I repeated the same sound over to create a zooming effect

This is what the production looked like when i had timecoded the production but had not yet edited it.

This shows what you have top do before you can start to edit your sound on cubase, firstly you must change your video player to quicktime and your VST audio system to generic low latency or M audio delta.

This is the VST audio chanel setting this allows you to change the tempo or/and pitch of the clip.

Another way to edit your production is to go Audio-Process-and chose which effect you wnt to use

Storyboard for weetos advert... the advert i gave to my client to complete the sound for:

Brief from client

Soundtrack for Advertisement
This advert is for a healthy breakfast cereal for kids to start there day. Or even to have as a snack. My advert is linked with the Olympics and furthermore is fun and active. Lots of sport: trampolining, skate boarding , BMX, rugby, football.  Understandably for this advert music should be fun and outgoing.
The style of music
I want the music to be layered and show a good range of high notes and upbeat tunes. I want it to be catchy so therefore they will remember the cereal. I also want the voice over to be clear to what danger mouse is saying.  Danger mouse has a very clear understanding tone to his voice and is calm under all situations. Due to this I would like the kids to be a bit more excited.
In the first clip I want a build up just like the Olympics build up.
To also show you the style and management I am looking for I have embedded some youtube clips of standards that I am looking at.

Dangermouse advert with sound draft

Evaluation of soundtrack

The sound I created for my clients advert for danger mouse cereal was effective as it was fun and child friendly. When I received my brief from my client she asked for it to be catchy, child friendly and sporty. I used these three categories and tried to create a child friendly bubble energetic sporty catchy soundtrack for the moving image. I used a H2 Zoom, voiceover and MIDI tracks to create the soundtrack from scratch.  The soundtrack worked well with the video as it was time coded so that the voiceover was matching the voices on the screen; I used effects to make the tempo and the frequency of the voices higher and lower.
When I asked my client if she was happy with what I had created for her she replied to me via email, the email read;
Dear Sophie

I have looked at the final video you have sent me, I am very happy with the work you have created and would be happy to use this as a television production to advertise my product.
However, I do think a couple of things could be change.
I think that when ‘danger mouse’ is speaking he could extend his speech but mention the key words such as “be active” etc.
The backing track is good however could be louder as it is overpowered by other aspects of the advert.
Thank you for completing this task for me
Kind regards
Hayley McCarthy

After reading this I thought about what was said and changed the errors that were made and resent her a copy this was now my final copy. My client was a lot happier with this production.

Advert 1. (Weetabix)
This advert only has a small amount of voiceover it starts at 55 seconds, Ends at 1.00 minute. The voice over reads, “new Weetabix chocolate spoon size, fuel for fun.” It is short but gives out only necessary information and does not drown the audience with a heap of information. The advert has a fast paced backing track, it sticks with the features of the advert, the music is very important, without it the perception that the producer is trying to get across would not be given. Small amounts of SFX are used in the advert, Birds in the background are used to create a morning effect and there is a dropping sound at the end when the teddies hit the ground at the end of the dance.

Advert 2. (Cocoa-pops)
The advert has a small sequenced jingle at the end, a little girl sings “Cocoa pops and milk make a bowl full of fun”, this small jingle and the person who is singing puts across the idea of who the target audience is , and how the cereal is going to make your life more fun at breakfast time. This advert is mainly SFX, the sound of the cereal running along the surfaces and creating its own music, gives the audience the effect of realistic narrative although the likeliness of the advert actually happening is anti-realistic.

Advert 3. (Frosties)
This advert is a jingle; the advert is created by a young boy singing about the greatness of his cereal, he tells everyone that it is for anyone. The way that they have created this advert puts across that the cereal can be eaten by anyone anywhere and is the best, the catchy song attracts the audience and the song gets stuck in there head so that the advert is unforgettable. The advert has a small amount of SFX for instance at the beginning of the advert you can hear the sound of machinery put in by SFX, Then at 5 seconds you hear an alarm that shows the boy has woken up, this is when he starts his jingle.

Advert 4. (Reese’s puffs)
Voiceover is used to introduce the advert, a man creates the voiceover reading “Amazing things can happen when you taste Reese’s puffs.” At 17 seconds you hear the voiceover man again this time he is telling us more about the cereal that is being advertised. This advert has music from 13 seconds when the band is introduced, the music then continues throughout the rest of the advert. SFX are used throughout the advert, at 5 seconds there is a sound of something amazing happens, at 8 seconds there is a sound of a car horn, at 9 seconds there is a sound of a car door opening, at 13 seconds the sound of the doorbell goes, and at 27 seconds there is the sound of cashing money.

Activity Log

Week 1: In this week i came up with the voices and recordings for the advert, i found this harder than expected, Firstly i was to connect the H2 to the computer so that everything was recorded directly onto the computer.

Week 2: In this week i completed the voiceover and also made the backing track, i found this easier this week as i was now aware of what i had to do, recording and producing the backing track ui found reasonably easy however found some difficulty with connecting the keyboard to the computer.

Week 3: In this week i added my sound effects, i did this by going out and recording and then copying them to the computers harddrive, this was alot easier than the other tasks that i was given in previous weeks, i came across a problem when recoding as my H2 zoom stopped working and i had to find a way of fixing it.

Week 4: In this week i started my edits, i did this by using Cubase, i changed the voices so that the pitches where higher/lower and put distortion on the voices. At first i found the editing hard but eventually picked it up and got the hang of what to do.

Week 5: In this week i finished up all the editing
